Trainer Tim Vaughan Makes the Jump for Big Results
A £900,000 investment in a former agricultural contracting yard on the outskirts of Cowbridge has led to the meteoric rise of horse racing's latest rising star.
Former Chartered Surveyor, 30 year old Tim Vaughan and his 27 year old wife Abbi have transformed the 65 acre site having established Tim Vaughan Racing just three years ago. The business now has a turnover of £1.5 million with 100 horses and 26 staff.
Advised by Graham Paul Chartered Accountants, a further £300,000 investment has funded the development of a new state of the art stable block that includes 75 stables and two automatic horse walkers. Dedicated offices, a five furlong all weather gallop, five furlong grass gallop, viewing towers and a schooling ground for jumping complete the facilities.
The Vaughan's can boast 51 winners this season thanks to their unique training facilities. They are supported by assistant trainer Rhys Hughes, the current Point to Point Welsh Champion.
The success of Tim Vaughan Racing has captured the attention of the industry throughout Europe with 65 owners placing their confidence, and money, in the Vaughan's.
"We go to every race truly believing that we can win. All we want is winners. Our formula is simple - we build our horses to a high level of fitness by working them on a stiff uphill gallop over five furlongs. They are also fed well and that is backed up with a strict schooling routine that includes making sure that each horse is happy as it is imperative that they are in the right frame of mind to be focussed on the job - just like humans," explains Tim Vaughan.
"My background as a Chartered Surveyor taught me the importance of attention to detail and sound planning. This approach is carried through to the racing business as I choose my races with great precision and care - we simply don't race a horse if we don't believe that we can win."
"Big race winners have boosted our profile and given us the confidence to continue with our ambitious programme of investment and expansion. We have surrounded ourselves with the very best professional support and the help and advice from John Squire at Graham Paul Chartered Accountants is therefore absolutely critical to achieving our vision of becoming the UK's leading racing business."
"Both Tim and Abbi have tremendous determination and energy. Thanks to their continued investment, they have enjoyed rapid business growth and are now ready to exploit the many opportunities ahead. We are absolutely delighted to be working with them and it is a real privilege to be so closely involved with such an exciting venture," adds John Squire, Director of Graham Paul Chartered Accountants.
